I'm back from a quick European tour with the Saga boys.
It was nice to see everyone again, and the shows went well.
Anyway, Nicole and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday.
An update on the solo cd to follow early in the new year.
All the best over the Holidays and Happy 2007.
We hope it is a good one for all!!

December 1, 2006
I got the call on Sunday, November 19: SAGA's current drummer, Brian Doerner, had put his back out and the band asked if I was available to play the SAGA Trust Party on November 21. Of course I would help them out and left for rehearsal within the hour! The show at Sam The Record Man was fun and a lot of old and new friends came out to catch it.
It turned out the next day that Brian wasn't fit to play the planned eight gigs in Europe, and before I knew it I was on a plane to Germany. That's where I am at the moment, playing a short Christmas tour with the boys. Look here for more details -> www.sagaontour.ca
Talk about dropping everything!!!
August 4, 2006 Here's the replay of the 5150 FM interview. The music has been edited out. If you don't see the video on the right, chances are you don't have the latest Flash plugin.
July 5, 2006 Live interview scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, 7:00pm Eastern Daylight Time, at internet radio station http://www.5150fm.com
Tune in to listen, chat and catch a few songs off "Dare To Dream".
April 26, 2006 I found out recently that my old friend Robbie Rae (Robert Bevan) had passed away.
He was a wonderful singer and a great guy to hang around with.
I'm glad I had the pleasure of knowing him, and working with him.
We will miss him!!!
Here is a song from the GNP cd that Robbie and I wrote together.
January 30, 2006 Well, the drum tracks are finally done for the solo cd! Here are a couple of pics of the drum kit I used.
I recorded at the Jamhouse in Hamilton, and as you can see from the
pictures I engineered as well!!
I'm off to Germany for two weeks and will post some sound bits when I
get back.
All the best to everyone in this new year!!!
Regards,
Steve
September 28, 2005 Congratulations to Brian Doerner from Helix. I hear that he has the gig with Saga now. I hope he's done his homework!!
I remember seeing Helix's first gig when I played in Kitchener with Fludd in '76, Helix was playing downstairs!
Looking forward to see him with the band!!
All the best Brian!!
Meanwhile, I am forging ahead with the solo CD, new bits will be posted this week!
All the best,
Steve

February 19, 2005 Well, I guess my birthday is a good day to put an update on the website!!
Last night Nicole and I went to see Saga in Toronto...a very strange feeling indeed!!!
It was the first time I attended a Saga show when I didn't have to play!!
It was great to see the boys and to check out the "new guy" behind the kit!!
Christian did well...(although I could show him a thing or two!!! ha ha)
I'll keep this short because I have to get ready for my party tonight...lots of friends coming over!!
I'm sure you are all curious about the current status of the solo cd...it is coming along nicely!!
Michael Sadler, Jim and Ian (Crichton) agreed to do some tracks on the new cd.
Daryl (Jim Gilmour) already put down a dazzling piano track on one of the songs!!
Al Langlade was down here a couple of weeks ago, (from Thunder Bay) and we did some great work,
bringing things up to date, and working on the rough spots; he arrives again tomorrow afternoon, and we'll spend a couple more days working on the songs... (see picture...that's Al!!)
There are 13 tracks that we are currently working on. 12 with vocals, and Al is writing the lyrics for those.
Dare to Dream is still the title of the cd and also the title track,... I love that song!!!
I also think it is time to put a little taste of the new cd on the website, so, I will be posting a couple of mp3's on here this week...
Ok, got to get organized for the party....all the best to all of my loyal supporters and friends!!
Stay tuned!!
Bye for now,
Steve
December 23, 2004 Ho ho ho,
My apologies for taking so long with this update!!
I have been incredibly busy since the summer.
After our vacation in Vancouver this summer, I worked on the solo cd,
and actually put down some acoustic and classical guitar on some of the
songs!!
Then, in the fall, my schedule got really busy, and I have been working
on several different cd projects, and had to take a breather from the
solo stuff... there just aren't enough hours in the day!!!
Also, there were a lot of gigs with Powerhouse over the summer and still
more shows coming up. I will be playing New Year's eve at Carmen's
here in Hamilton with the band.
Right now, it's all about family and Christmas, then back to work on the
solo cd.
I wish you all a happy and safe festive season, and all the best for the
new year.....happy 2005!!!!
Steve
July 6, 2004 Nicole and I were in Montreal for Canada day weekend, as Powerhouse was
playing at Six Flags.
Here are a couple of pictures. The current drumkit configuration, and
a live shot of the whole band on stage.
Not much else new to report, the solo cd is on-going and that's about
all the news. Powerhouse is busy over the summer, so I'll be doing
more travelling!
By the way, Nicole took these pictures!!
All the best,
Steve
June 1, 2004 The Negus solo CD is coming along nicely, there are days when things really click and other days where nothing works!!!
Al (Langlade) and I are sending files back and forth over the net regularly….which is convenient in some ways and slower than usual in others!!
I want this to be a great CD, so I’m taking my time with it.
Kenny McLaren has been here doing some guitar work and we have more of that coming up next week. I love the guitar sound we have, it really is great!!
I know the Saga boys are in L.A. and hard at it, for their next CD.
All the best boys, hope all is going well… I miss you guys!!
I have started the obligatory drum solo for the cd, which is a cross between A Brief Case and Without You (intro).
The whole idea with this, is that it will be the Negus tribe of drummers….with tradeoffs from the drum kit.
There will be the bass drum section, the snare section and the tom section, all playing at different times, and “the kit” for the actual solo bits!!
Several new songs are under development too….I will post something soon, but I don’t want anyone to hear too much, until I’m closer to completion….sorry about that!!
As usual, thanks for your support and patience!!
Regards,
Steve
March
3, 2004 Well
another birthday has come and gone, we had a good party! Thanks
to all for the birthday wishes!! I have been busy lately editing
the music for a couple of local shows, and in between, working
on the solo songs. They are coming along great!!
Daryl (Jim Gilmour) has done a piano track on one song, and
Ian (Crichton) is doing a solo on the same song!! That is the
title track "Dare to Dream". Al Langlade has been writing the
lyrics and singing the vocals, and we have been exchanging ideas
over the net. That has been working well.
Kenny McLaren has been doing some guitar tracks, as well as
Mark Severin. I am also doing a lot of keyboard parts on the
songs.....I'm not a great player, but I edit REALLY WELL!!!!
I will post some mp3 bits soon.
Also, as you know, I have been out playing locally with Powerhouse,
and that continues.... here's a picture from one of the gigs.
I am using my acoustic DW kit again, and I must say, I love
those drums!!
You can check the site for dates which are posted regularly
at www.powerhouserockband.com That's the update for now. I will post another one soon!!
Regards to all my supporters out there, without you I can't
make music!!!

December
23, 2003 Happy
Holidays to All!!!
Here's
a quick update as to what has been happening at the Negus household!!!
Nicole
has finally made it to Canada as a Permanent Resident, (she
landed December 5th) and we have been busy sorting all that
stuff out. All my space has been cut in half!!!......a small
sacrifice to make for having my darling wife here in Canada
with me!!
The
studio has been busy with various editing and mastering projects,
and I have made the move into CD duplication on a small scale.
So, I will be making the remastered GNP CD available for anyone
who wants it. More details after Christmas.
The
solo CD is coming along nicely, there are eight songs currently
underway, and I am pleased with the results so far. The working
title is "Dare to Dream." This will be the title song
for the CD.
With such a busy schedule, it has been hard to spend as much
time as I would like on the new material, but, now that Nicole
is settled, I can get more accomplished in the new year!! More
news on this as it happens.
And,
finally, Nicole and I would like to wish everyone a very festive
and happy Christmas season, and, we hope that everyone gets
what they want from Santa!!!!
Christmas
greetings to all,
Frohe Weihnachten!!!!

it's straight into the new stuff!! Thanks to everyone for the
gifts that I received at the shows. It was wonderful to have
so much support!!!
I hope to see you all again soon!!

Open Letter to all Saga Fans:
I
think it is appropriate at this time, to let you know that these
shows in July, up to the Hamilton show, (July 12th) will be
my last with Saga.
It
is after careful consideration that I have decided to leave
the band.
I
feel that I can no longer function within the present framework,
so, it is time for me to take my leave and move on to new and
different pursuits.
It's
not an easy move to make after twenty six years of playing together,
but one, obviously, that I have to make.
This
is not the result of some blowout, or fight with any member
of the band, but rather has to do with external circumstances
that seem to be beyond my control.
So,
I wish the other members, Jim, Mike, Ian and Daryl, all the
best, and I know that we will remain friends regardless of the
state of Saga.
I
would also like to thank all the fans that have been so supportive
over the years. Without you, none of us could have accomplished
the great body of work that Saga has recorded to date.
Best
wishes,
Steve
I
just updated the Producer section with 2 Negus
projects I overlooked. One is an album called "Forward
Your Emotions" from a Canadian band called "One To
One", which some of you may recognize them more by their
more recent band name "Artificial Joy Club". The other
was a Metal band called "Savage Steel", both albums
were released in 1988.
Check
out the all new pics from the recent show at the Old Roxy Theatre
in Mount Forest, Ontario:
Special
thanks to Laurie
Overton for the excellent pictures at
the Mt. Forest show!!!
All new pictures from the 25th Anniversary show in Bonn!
Check them out:
I'm currently working on the drum tracks for
the new SAGA cd. I'm recording at home and sending the parts
to the rest of the band in LA over the internet! I have also
been remastering the back catalogue for North American release,
7 are finished so far.
The
Gilmour Negus Project special remastered edition CD
entitled "Safety Zone" will soon be re-released featuring Steve
Negus and Jim Gilmour. All tracks are currently in the digital
re-mastering phase at Steve's mastering facility and will be
available on-line in the very near future! For more info on
the GNP go
here.
